Morrissey, born in Urmston in 1959 and lead singer of The Smiths, featured here at John Rylands Library with an interesting collection of books.

Artist James Chapman explains:

"It’s everyone’s favourite moody teenage 50-something! The Smiths have always been one of my favourite bands and it’s so nice listening to songs that are so personal to Manchester as a city so it was an honour to illustrate Morrissey."
